Imagine Making a Career Change... Then Do it

The slowly recovering economy may have made it harder to find a job, but has opened people's minds to changing their current career. However, while the idea of a career change may be daunting, there are ways to make sure that the transition is smooth.

Julie Shiftman, a career consultant in Cincinnati, is urging people who are currently unemployed or not happy in their job, to either go back to work or start a small business, according to News.Cincinnati.com. She argues that just by imagining a new career path, people will start to be more comfortable with the idea.

That is the theme of the conference that she will be hosting on November 4. Shiftma is the founder and president of Act Three, a firm that helps women between the ages of 40 and 60 decide what they want to do after they have had their first career or finished raising their children.

The event will also include a news anchor, Carol Williams interviewing Patty Brisben, who founded Loveland-based Pure Romance, according to the news source.

Career changes are becoming more popular as the unemployment rate hovers at about 9.6%, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
